3 ways to use Aussie stone fruit with smallgoods

Have you noticed how good Australian stone fruit is lately? If your house is anything like ours, you’ve made the most of the late season fruit and stocked up on cheap, abundant and high quality nectarines, peaches, mangos and plums.

The problem is, you can’t always get through it all! If you’ve got piles of stone fruit nearing the end of life, don’t throw them away. Save them. With a little culinary cleverness you you can turn them into an even more delicious meal!

Aussie stone fruit and smallgoods (cooked and cured meats) are a fabulous combination. The mix of salt and sweet enhances the flavours of both.

If you’re not sure about which smallgoods to choose, Kaczanowski’s premium corned beef, smokehouse leg ham and smoked chicken breast are great options - available from from outlets throughout NSW, VIC and QLD

So what you can do with smallgoods and stone fruit? Here’s three great recipes to get you inspired:

  1. Char-Grilled Nectarine, Rocket and Leg Ham Toasties

This recipe is great way to use up leftover leg ham and make the most of in-season nectarines. We recommend using thick sliced Smokehouse Leg Ham, or if you prefer a lighter flavour, Virginia Leg Ham.

  1. Spiced Peach Chutney for Meat & Cheese Platters

If you’re drowning in peaches, a home-made chutney is great way to use them up. We recommend spooning this over cold cuts of Corned Beef or Pepper Rare Roast Beef. It’s also a great side for baked leg ham.

  1. Mango, Avocado & Smoked Chicken Breast Salad

Salads can make sense even in Autumn. This one is certainly a winner, combining late-season Mango (depending on where you are in Australia) with slices of our ever-popular Smoked Chicken Breast.
